Death of an Era

Maybe you know this and maybe you don't, but legendary radio host Paul Harvey died this past Saturday at 90 years of age. For years he entertained folks with signature lines like "the rest of the story," and "page two," and made himself into a popular host since the beginning of his career in 1951. He was frequently applauded for not only coining new phrases (and some other words such as "guesstimate") but also for reporting stories that the people could really latch on to. He was regarded as a great storyteller and still is by many accounts. Some even give him the benefit as being one of the fathers of modern journalism, leading the way with humor and well positioned words and phrases that charmed and humored "Middle-America." Maybe it's just me, but it seems as though he has been well loved for a long time, and he will be remembered for years to come.
